Best Restaurants -(American)
Botak Jones
(Restaurants - American)
Block 529 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10
Singapore 560529
65 67551225
Description:
Hawker food, US style. “Botak” means “bald” in local slang, a tribute to this cheap and cheerful joint’s mixed roots. Come here when you can’t be bothered to get out of your shorts and flip-flops, or when all that air-conditioning has started to give you the sniffles. Expect big portions of American-style food, including hot dogs, salads, fries and burgers, plus the famed Botak Burger. The fish and chips, made from Pacific dory and coated in fine Japanese breadcrumbs, are particularly outstanding. Excellent service, with friendly and helpful waitstaff. Several other outlets in the suburbs.

Brewerkz
(Restaurants - American)
30 Merchant Rd
Singapore 058282
65 6438 7438
Description:
Brewerkz is an American-style brewpub, making its own microbrews right on the premises since 1997. The vast interior has a trendy industrial feel with super high ceilings and exposed pipes and beams, warmed by an abundance of dark wood. The Canadian brewmaster crafts some fine beers, including the ever-popular IPA (India Pale Ale), golden ale, brown ale, alt bier and even a pilsner lager. If you can't decide, try a sampler of several styles. The food here is excellent as well, featuring American / British favorites such as cheddar- and bacon-topped potato skins, nachos, wings, fish and chips, shepherd's pie, baby back ribs, grilled steaks and jambalaya. A big screen TV is tuned to all the big games, whether it's rugby, football or baseball.

Café Iguana
(Restaurants - American)
30 Merchant Rd
Singapore 058282
65 6236 1275
Description:
Singapore has an astounding mélange of restaurants serving every cuisine under the sun. Café Iguana, from the same folks who operate Brewerkz, offers up great Mexican favorites. Everything, from the tortillas to the salsa and guacamole, is made in-house. Fajitas and burritos are deservedly popular, and the homemade avocado ice cream is deliciously different.

Corduroy and Finch
(Restaurants - American)
779 Bukit Timah Rd
Singapore 269758
65 6463 8038
Description:
An upscale gourmet deli-café that's popular among the ex-pat crowd, Corduroy and Finch buzzes with activity from open to close. High ceilings give the space an airy feel, and allow for a cozy loft that's great for relaxing over a cup of coffee. Breakfast and Sunday brunch are big draws (expect a wait if you haven't made reservations), with extensive choices from hearty egg and meat dishes to lighter fare like fresh fruit and muffins. Lunch and dinner options feature platters of cold cuts and cheeses, pates, seafood, grilled steaks and big sandwiches; the full afternoon tea spread includes pastries, quiche and cake. All sweets (even the ice cream and chocolates) are made in-house, and the deli shelves are lined with a tasty selection of imported goodies.

Cork Cellar Kitchen
(Restaurants - American)
168 Robinson Rd
Singapore 068912
65 6327 9169
Description:
A homage to the fermented grape, the emphasis at this restaurant is on wine and there's lots of the good stuff flowing here. Cork Cellar Kitchen is the latest addition to the Marmalade Group's expanding family, with the same commanding interiors and fine attention to detail as its sister establishments. Supplement your liquid dinner (or lunch) with a selection from the grazing menu, which features a range of tapas-style dishes ideal for sharing. The kitchen also pumps out excellent mains, including a particularly notable duck leg confit.
